Why I Started Palm Beach County Pickleball News—And Why It Matters

When I launched Palm Beach County Pickleball News, I wasn’t sure where it would go. I hoped to get pickleball companies to offer discounts to subscribers, and luckily, that worked.

Now, with more than 1,000 subscribers, the newsletter is more than just tips and deals—it’s a voice for the local pickleball community. Players need more courts, better facilities, and solutions for overcrowding.

The more subscribers we have, the stronger our voice becomes. Let’s work together to ensure Palm Beach County pickleball gets the resources it deserves.

Warm regards,
Bob

Dink Eyewear:
Vision Breakthrough for Pickleball Players

🕶️ Dink Eyewear – Designed for the Way You Play

Pickleball is exploding—and your vision should keep up.

Dink Eyewear was born out of a simple observation: most sports sunglasses protect, but few enhance. Backed by 30+ years in optics, we created Color Boost™ lens technology—fine-tuned for the unique colors of pickleballs to help players track the ball faster and see more clearly in any light, indoors or out.

Our eyewear is built specifically for pickleball, with frames that stay stable during fast lateral movement, and lenses that reduce glare, sharpen contrast, and offer full UV protection. And our style? Bold. Hand-painted in Italy. Inspired by the energy of the game.

Best-seller alert: The Daytona Petite—a slim-profile frame made for women, teens, and smaller players—came straight from player feedback and now leads the pack.

We’re also proud to collaborate with PICKLESTARS, supporting youth initiatives, co-branded gear, and events that grow the game from the grassroots up.

🎯 Want the competitive edge and standout style?

Control the Middle, Control the Match: Why Hitting Down the Middle Is a Winning Strategy

You’ve heard it before: “Down the middle solves the riddle.” It’s more than a clever saying—it’s a winning strategy at every level of pickleball. Hitting to the middle does three powerful things that can shift momentum in your favor.

1. It Creates Confusion
Even advanced teams occasionally hesitate on balls hit down the middle. Who takes it? That split-second indecision can cause mishits, pop-ups, or total whiffs. Smart players hit low and fast to the middle, forcing opponents to communicate under pressure.

2. It’s a Safer Target
Aiming for the sidelines might look flashy, but it carries risk. The middle gives you a wider margin for error, especially when resetting a hard shot, changing pace, or navigating the transition zone. You stay aggressive without overreaching.

3. It Attacks the Weak Link
Most teams have a less confident player or someone who is slower to move. A steady stream of middle shots can expose backhand weaknesses, draw foot-fault errors, and frustrate the player who keeps getting beaten in "no man’s land."

Pro Tip
Try hitting to the middle while your opponents are moving, especially during transition. Off-balance players are more likely to pop up the ball or miss entirely.

Drill It
Play a game where you only score points on shots that land in the middle third of the court. You’ll train your eyes and instincts to find the middle—and take control of the rally.

Bottom line
When you own the middle, you control the tempo, force mistakes, and open up the rest of the court.

Coach’s Corner takeaway
Control the middle—control the match.

Pickleball 2025:
Transform Your Game with Bold New Strategies

Palm Beach County Pickleball News

I remember the first time I watched a competitive pickleball match in 2016. The game felt casual, a mix of chess and ping-pong played at a comfortable pace. Dinks were soft, serves were gentle, and rallies could last forever. It was fun and strategic, but it wasn’t fast.

Fast-forward to 2025, and the sport has evolved into something entirely different.

Today, pickleball is faster, more explosive, and more mentally demanding than ever. What used to be a soft game of finesse is now a hybrid of quick reflexes, power plays, and unpredictable spins. The best players are doing more than just getting the ball over the net—they're dictating the pace, owning the midcourt, and forcing errors through sheer strategic pressure.

Whether you're a seasoned player or a rising competitor, you can't afford to keep playing like it’s 2019. Here are the five most effective advanced strategies defining the modern pickleball court.
